You know, there are times when I brush off organized religion as brainwashing, a set of rules and regulations bounding free people. I don’t consider myself an atheist, and I don’t go around telling people what they should and should not believe. However to those of you who do that to others, telling them not to believe in anything because there is nothing, let me ask you, who will you ask for help when your sitting in a hospital room, watching 15 doctors trying to resuscitate your loved one? I’m telling you this because today I watched a complete strangers mother die in her hospital bed, and all her son could do was sit on the floor, cry, and pray. To who? To what? I don’t know. All I know is that prayer may have been the only thing keeping him alive. It was not hateful, it was not prejudice, it was not sexist, it was not radical, it was beautiful. Just promise me not to bash others religions. Don’t look down on them. Don’t write them off as crazy. Because as many radical ideas that religions possess, they all still allow us to love, and to hope, and that is what makes all the difference.
